Tesla To Build Energy Storage Super Factory In Shanghai May Create A Hundred Billion Industry Cluster

On the afternoon of April 9, Tesla announced that it will build a new energy storage super factory in Shanghai, dedicated to the production of Megapack, the company's energy storage product. it is reported that the project will be Tesla's first energy storage super factory project outside of the United States, with construction expected to start in the third quarter of 2023 and production in the second quarter of 2024.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk retweeted the official announcement tweeting that the new plant will serve as an expansion of the Megapack capacity at the California facility.

The person in charge of Tesla said that the new energy storage super factory will plan to produce Tesla super large commercial energy storage batteries, with an initial planned annual output of up to 10,000 units and an energy storage scale of about 40GWh. The products will be supplied globally.

Lu Yu, director of the High Science Department of the Administrative Committee of the new Lingang Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, said, "The landing of this energy storage super factory will hopefully recreate the next hundred-billion-dollar industrial cluster."
